Supportive Teen Counseling Centennial, Colorado

Counseling for Teenagers

Working with teenagers is special. They are in a season of transition between childhood and adulthood, creating a natural tension within themselves and their relationships. They are often eager to embrace more independence while at the same time feeling unequipped to handle the challenges of adult life. They also experience other pressures from family, peers, and school. These relationships and situations teens experience can cause some to need extra support to navigate this season. Counseling can help. Teens want and need someone to talk to who understands their feelings, and I am here to provide that space and support.

In teen counseling sessions in Denver, Colorado, my first objective is to establish a sense of connection and trust. Counseling can be a place of safety for them to disclose and explore feelings in a nonjudgmental space and learn ways of coping with many of the adult issues they face in daily life. Sessions are structured for each individual based on their needs and move toward achieving the goals they set for their unique situation.

I enjoy working with teenagers and their support systems and would be happy to help you and your teen. My specialties include treating anxiety, helping teens develop healthy peer relationships, processing trauma histories, and developing healthy family relationships.

Common Issues of Teenagers
and the Benefits of Counseling

  • Anxiety & Stress

    • Whether it’s from school, family, friends, romance, work, or extracurriculars, teen life is stressful. This is a complicated time in life, and counseling can help your teen develop the tools and the confidence to work through whatever comes their way.

  • Relationship Issues

    • Learning how to communicate your needs is tricky, especially on top of balancing the stress and obligations of a typical teenager. This is the time for teens to learn how to set boundaries, communicate what they need, and learn how to be themselves in a relationship.

  • Trauma Recovery

    • Trauma can come from a number of experiences – abuse, bullying, divorce, loss, and the list goes on. Therapy for teens can give them your teen the skills and tools to cope with their trauma and feel more in control of their lives.

  • LGBTQ+

    • LGBTQ+ teens face the same challenges that all teens deal with, but they also have to do so in a society that isn’t always accepting of who they are. Therapy is a safe, respectful, non-judgmental space for your teen to explore their experiences and needs.

  • Mood Changes

    • Whether your teen is experiencing feelings of isolation, depression, hopelessness, or some other change in their typical mood, Therapy for teens is a safe space to dive into whatever is troubling them without judgement or fear of getting “in trouble,” which can be empowering.
